No notes are to be brought into the class.

You may bring a printed copy of your Knowledgeworkx Cultural Mapping Inventory or use your computer to view the report. 

Make sure that you have your CMI sheet (sent as PDF to your HCT email) - Without your CMI report you will have nothing to write about and receive 0 Marks!!

Four Exam articles in Edmodo Week#11

You will be tested on:-
1.      The Three World Views – definitions and forms (see Edmodo Week#3 – Handout 1.4.2 Understanding World Views)
2.      The Twelve Dimensions – definitions and applications like the quiz (see Edmodo Week#8 -  12 Dimensions introduction)  and
3.      The Four Articles (you will only have two in the exam – see Edmodo Week #11)

There will be many multiple-choice type questions but you will also be expected to give short answers, sentences, paragraphs and give opinions especially when answering the reading comprehension and vocabulary questions to the articles, which you have been able to study for the last weeks.

·         Please be on time and bring a pen or pencil.
·         No translators are allowed in the exam – (no phones)
·         Please make sure that you bring your ID card and place it on the desk.

Please transfer the Three World Views and the Twelve Dimension answers to the answer sheet and make sure your Name, ID and Section is on it.

Also, make sure that your name is on the article answer sheets and stapled together.

Powerpoint Slides:

1 Cover slide: names; section; title - film / situation

1 Dimensions slide  / person - list your 2 dimensions + polarities (and speaker?)
Conclusion slide

Keep it to the point and use images / few words!

Presentation (Group with Individual Grading); Groups should be 3 

Minimum 15 minutes-Maximum 20 minutes. 3-5 minutes / speaker (minimum 3’)
 
Each group has to select and show part of a film, TV show or documentary OR cultural topic.
It can be in any language but it must have English subtitles.
The part shown should be: 
 no longer than 4 minutes. Can be separated into 1-2 minute clips..
As a group you need to
  • explain the cultural context of the film (NOT a summary of the story)  
  • Explain the Situation (where?); Speakers (Who?); Purpose (Why?) and       whether the purpose was achieved.. 
  • state which dimensions/ polarities you feel it represents; and how the participants show their preferences.
Each student should analyse and discuss two dimensions, but should also be ready to take questions on the other students’ chosen dimensions. If you want to receive MORE than 70-80 marks, then you will do at least 2 dimensions
There are 2 main parts to the presentation:
Part One: a detailed description of the cultural context of the film clip, for example, this could include:
-          an Analysis of worldviews that are present as well as some
-          Background on the characters, setting and historical period.
-          Reference must be made to the film clip itself when describing examples.
Part Two: An analysis of the scene chosen according to the 12 dimensions. 2 dimensions / student!!
Each presentation should focus on three or four+ dimensions (depending on the number of students in the group: 3 students = 6 dimensions).

Clearly explain the following Or others cultural dimensions and their polarities:-
·         Destiny
·         Expression
·         Decision-making
·         Planning
·         Communication
·         Status
Make a presentation using PowerPoint and use at least three of the following techniques:-
·         Roleplay/Sketch (live or filmed)
·         Cartoon - print or movie
·         Video clip
·         Images
·         Go Animate
·         Poster
·         Discussion of scenario
·         Alternative media as approved by teacher
All students in the group must speak about the dimensions.
